Summer Energy Saving Tips:

  • Use your windows to keep your house cool.
Turn off your cooling system and open your windows at night, then in the morning shut the windows and blinds to keep the cool air inside.
  • Operate your thermostat efficiently. Set your thermostat as high as comfortably possible in the summer. The smaller the difference between the indoor and outdoor temperatures, the lower your overall cooling bill will be. For each degree above 78 degrees, it will help you save 6-8% of your cooling costs.
  • Use ceiling fans to help you cool. A ceiling fan will allow you to raise your thermostat about 4 degrees with no reduction in comfort.  Remember to turn off your fan when you leave a room, fans cool people not the room.
  • Keep your cooling system running efficiently.Schedule regular maintenance for your cooling equipment. Also clean or replacing your filters monthly will allow for more efficient operation.
